Event Overview

For many people, Blockchain has been synonymous with Bitcoin. Although bitcoins were one of the primary reasons for creation of blockchains. There have been a lot of developments in this technology and now, this technology has the potential to impact and boost operational efficiencies of large number of organizations across the globe. While the financial services may be at the forefront of these changes. This opportunity has presented itself with increased urgency across a wide range of sectors. Such as government and ministries, advertising, hospitality, health care, energy, food and agriculture—if there’s a business there’s a transaction, and wherever there’s a transaction there is an opportunity for blockchain.

As blockchain makes considerable forays into financial services pioneers are beginning to recognize the equally big opportunities it offers in areas like energy, transportation, health care and even the arts.
However, many of the industries players are working in an uncoordinated or fragmented manner. This event will bring together the key stakeholders working in diverse fields, creating an exciting cross- industry pollination of ideas and approaches that will yield new insights and explore even more new opportunities for growth and more importantly help in shaping the future blockchain technology policies for the European organizations.

The main goal of this forum is to create the more accessible and a much more diverse, policy-oriented platform where business and government leaders can learn how blockchain could impact their organizations and how they can seize the Opportunity to reap the maximum benefits this budding technology has to offer.

Hence, we at TraiCon will be hosting the “World BlockChain Congress– Saudi Arabia 2018” scheduled to take place on 3rd and 4th October 2018 in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. This two day summit is an educative platform comprising of both local and international case study presentations, highly interactive panel discussions and networking sessions.

We request all the key government sector stake holders, private sector stake holders and solution providers to support us and actively participate in this summit which focuses on the implementation of Blockchains to improve efficiency of services and boost the economy of the country.

Why Saudi Arabia?

  • Saudi Arabia has prioritised technological development as one of its key pillars of the Saudi vision 2030 strategy to diversify the kingdoms economy and create new jobs. The kingdom has already indicated that the kingdom’s public investment fund will support the growth of this sector by announcing the launch of a $100 billion technology investment fund with the Japanese firm as of October 2016.

  • The kingdom of Saudi Arabia has also recognised the need to protect its online infrastructure by establishing the Saudi national cyber security centre as part of its coordinated defence programme. Financial technology will play a crucial role in achieving the goals of the Saudi vision 2030 but this would require a very strong cyber- security protection.

  • Malware attacks and viruses have been identified as a key threat, such as the shamoon virus which struck several Saudi Arabian institutions in 2016. According to the recent studies the kingdom recorded around 1,000 cyber-attacks in 2016, primarily targeting infrastructure and intellectual property.

  • Neom one of the upcoming megaprojects in Saudi Arabia is looking to develop a transnational city and an economic zone to be constructed in Tabuk, Saudi Arabia close to the border region of Saudi Arabia, Jordan, and Egypt. Neom is part of Saudi Arabia’s vision 2030-led effort to move away from its dependency of oil.

  • The primary goal is to bring Neom as the “most safest, efficient and effective way to bring Neom to the forefront by bringing in advanced value-added chains of industry and technology to bring together advanced technologies such as future energy, artificial intelligence, big data and blockchain technology promising, the most suitable place to live and work .it is expected to become the world’s leading innovation and trade centre.

  • A pilot program the first of its kind to be launched by a central bank. Participating banks from Saudi Arabia would be able to use this solution to instantly settle payments sent into and out of the country. With the help of this technology Saudi Arabian customers would be able to experience much faster, cheaper and more transparent cross-border transactions.

  • Earlier, the central bank of Saudi Arabia noted that it is too early to introduce regulation, because “the market has not yet matured, " and it is possible to assess the impact of the crypto currency on the financial market not earlier than in 5 years.

  • It was also recently stated that the capital markets authority of Saudi Arabia would be shortly submitting its draft law with regards to regulations of the cryptocurrency. It was also noted that to this date the Saudi Arabian authorities have not imposed any restrictions with regards to bitcoin trade or ICO. Unlike most other markets, the regulators in Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have been closely following the developments with cryptocurrencies with great interest and are looking possible options for the future.
